JIMMY AND THE POCKET MONSTERS

Jimmy and The Pocket Monsters aren’t a fixed band—they’re a living groove. Fronted by Texas songwriter and sculptor Jimmy F’in Hill, backed by Gannon Phillips (bass), Jeff Furgo (piano), Wes Griffin (drums), and Vicki Blackwell (violin). The group moves fluidly between smoky jazz corners, outlaw-country bars, and late-night soul sets. Every performance re-shapes the lineup: one night it’s a piano trio, another it’s a full-band swing with sax, and violin leads that stretch and breathe. What doesn’t change is the feel—steady pocket, sharp lyricism, and a kind of unhurried cool that invites listeners to lean in. Rooted in Fort Worth’s creative grit, their sound drifts through the same space of Faustian bargains—where beauty and consequence share a rhythm, and every note feels like a deal struck between redemption and ruin. Motown rhythm meets gypsy jazz phrasing, cowboy soul meets urban edge. Each song feels lived-in, dusted with Texas heat and the echo of something true. Minimalist by design, the band leaves space—room for stories to unfold, for solos to wander, for the night to become part of the song. Whether it’s a stripped-down jam or a cinematic set with guest players, Jimmy and The Pocket Monsters always sound like themselves: honest, raw, and just a little dangerous.

MEET THE BAND

  • JIMMY F'IN HILL

    TRUTH.
He’s the voice, the words, and the spark that lit this fire. A songwriter who turns life’s mess into melody — rough around the edges, smooth in all the right places.

  • GANNON PHILLIPS

    BASS.
Low-end outlaw with a steady hand. Keeps it tight, keeps it smooth, never breaks a sweat. The kind of groove that makes everything else make sense.

  • JEFF FURGO

    PIANO.
The quiet killer on the keys. Cool as a midnight breeze, slick as an old record. When Jeff locks in, time slows down just to listen.

  • WES GRIFFIN

    DRUMS.
Rhythm mechanic with a grin that says “hold on.” Drives the whole damn machine — loud, loose, and always in control. When Wes hits, you feel it in your bones.
